Child’s Poncho
Materials:
5- 50g balls of Adriafil Yuppy in color 25.
Knitting Needles:
US 3—24” circular, size E crochet hook.
Gauge: 7 sts = 1” measured over st st.
Size: 8 years
PATTERN STITCHES
Stockinette St (st st)
Chain (ch), Single crochet (sc), Double crochet (dc), Treble crochet (Tr)
Double treble crochet (dtr), Bobble: 4 chs, 1 dc. in the base st. below.
INSTRUCTIONS
Piece A: With knitting needles, and the yarn worked single, loosely cast on 88 sts and work in st st. When total length is 24”, bind off all sts.
Piece B: Make as for the Piece A
MAKE UP AND FINISH
Sew the cast on edge of Piece A to the first 12” of the right side edge of Piece B. Sew the bind off edge of Piece B to the last 12” of the left side edge of the first part. (see schematic).With the crochet hook and the yarn doubled trim the inner edge (collar) as follows:
Row 1: in dc. work 1 st every 2 rows of the edge; end this row and the following rows with 1 sc. in the starting st.
Row 2: 1 group (= 1 tr., 2 chs. and 1 tr. in the same base st.), * skip 3 sts., 1 group in the next st. *, rep. from * to *.
Row 3: 1 sc. in the first tr., * in the space of 2 chs., work 3 d.trs., 5 chs., skip the next group *, rep. from * to *.
Row 4: 1 sc. in each of the next 3 d.trs., * in the next arch of 5 chs. work 4 trs., 1 bobble and 4 trs.; 3 chs. in the next arch work 1 dc., 1 bobble and 1 dc.; 3 chs. *, rep. from * to *.
Break off and bind the yarn.
With the crochet hook and the yarn doubled trim the outer edges of the poncho as follows:
Row 1: in dc. work 1 st. in every st. or every 2 rows of the edge; end this row and the following rows with 1 sc. in the starting st.
Row 2: 1 group (= 1 tr., 2 chs. and 1 tr. in the same base st.), * skip 3 sts., 1 group in the next st. *, rep. from * to *.
Row 3: 1 sc. in the first tr., * in the space of 2 chs., work 4 d.trs., 5 chs., skip the next group *, rep. from * to * in each corner work 4 d.trs., 3 chs. and 4 d.trs.
Row 4: 1 sc. in each of the first 4 d.trs., 2 scs. and 1 dc. in the next arch, * 7 chs., in the next arch work 1 d.tr., 2 chs. and 1 d.tr.; 7 chs., 1 dc. in the next arch, 9 chs., 1 dc. in the next arch *, rep. from * to * working, above the corner arch, 1 dc., 7 chs. and 1 dc.
Row 5: work several single crochets to the space of 2 chs. of the 1st group and, work in the group, work 1 dc., 1 bobble and 1 dc.; * 7 chs., skip the next arch, in the arch of 9 chs. work (4 d.trs., 1 bobble) twice and again 4 d.trs.; 7 chs. skip the next arch, in the space of 2 chs. of the next group work 1 dc., 1 bobble and 1 dc. *, rep. from * to * working the group of d.trs. and bobble even in each corner arch.
Fasten off. Weave in all ends.
