This unique scarf gets its spiral shape by using large needles and making multiple increases.
Gauge: Loose on size US 17 needles
Needles: US 17 needles, crochet hook for tassels
Size: 3½ x 55”
Materials: MC: Eros: 1 ball
CC: Athena: 1 ball
Directions
The cast on stitches are the “core” of the scarf. There are only 4 rows in this garter stitch scarf, and increasing either every stitch or every other stitch in each row creates the spiral shape. To increase, knit in front and back of the same stitch. Be sure to keep your stitches loose as this will make increasing easier.
Cast on 35 sts with MC.
Row 1: Increase in each st across row.
Row 2: Attach CC. Using both yarns held together, work (K1, increase 1); across row.
Rows 3 & 4: Drop MC. Using only CC, increase in each st across row.
Bind off loosely, using CC.
Weave in loose ends.
To make tassels: Cut 24, 20” lengths of MC. Take 12 strands, fold them in half and make one large tassel at each end of scarf using a crochet hook
