MATERIALS: 10- 50g balls of Alpaca Boucle, color 707 shown.
Gauge: 4 dc groups = 4”
Crochet Hook: US Size L (8mm)
1 Size Fits Most Women
Notes: 1. For a larger size use US Size N (9mm) crochet hook; follow same directions.
2. Special stitch for this pattern (worked at center front and center back to form a point):
“Center Shell” = 2dc, ch 3, 2dc
Start:
With US Size L crochet hook, ch 63 loosely. Join with sl st to first ch to form ring, being careful not to twist ch. Ch 1, and do not turn.
Begin neck: Row 1: Work 1 sc in each ch around [63 sc]. Place a safety pin to mark beginning of row, moving it up for the next 2 rows.
Rows 2 and 3: Work sc in each sc. At end of Row 3, join with sl st to first sc.
Begin bodice:
Row 1: Ch3, dc in next sc, ch 1, sk 1 sc, (dc in next 2 sc, ch 1, sk next sc) 4X, work center shell (see note #2, above) in next sc, ch 1, sk next sc, (dc in next 2 sc, ch 1, sk next sc) 10X, work center shell, ch 1, sk next sc, (dc in next 2 sc, ch 1, sk next sc) 5X. Join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3.
Note: You will have 10 2dc groups on each side of center shell point. With each row you will be increasing 1 group of 2dc on each side of center shell point for a total of 2 extra groups each row.
Row 2: Sl st in next dc and into first ch-1 sp, ch 3, 1dc in same sp, ch 1, (2dc in next ch-1 sp, ch1) 4X, work center shell in ch-3 sp of center shell, ch 1, (2dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 11X, work center shell in ch-3 sp of center shell, ch 1, (2dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 6X. Join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. [11 2dc groups on each side of center shell]

Rows 3 – 24: Row 3 is as follows: sl st in next dc and into 1st ch-1 sp, ch 3, 1 dc in same sp, ch 1, (2dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 4X, work center shell in ch-3 sp, ch 1, (2dc in next ch-1 sp, ch1)12X, work center shell in ch-3 sp, ch 1, (2 dc in next ch-1 sp) 7X. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. For Rows 4 through 24, inc 1 group of 2dc on each side of center shell in same manner as on Row 3 of bodice. After finishing row 24, you will have a total of 33 groups of 2dc on each side of the center shell points. Break yarn.
Begin Scallop Border: Attach yarn with sl st into ch-3 space of center shell. Work 3 sc in same space, 1 sc in each dc, 1 sc in ch-1 sp around to next center shell, 6 sc in ch-3 sp of shell. Continue in this manner working 1 sc in each dc and 1 sc in each ch-1 space around to beg of row, work 3 sc in shell space, sl st to first sc of row, to end of round [220 sc].
Next Row: Ch 5, (1 tr, ch 1) 6X into same sc as sl st, sk next 4 sc, 1 sc in next sc, ch 1, sk next 4 sc, * in next sc work (1 tr, ch 1) 7X, skip next 4 sc, 1 sc in next sc, ch 1, sk next 4 sc. Repeat from * ending with sl st at top of beginning ch 5. Fasten off.

Finishing:
Attach yarn at back of neck in any sc of first row and sl st in each sc around. Fasten off.
