You are beginning at the center of the back. Ch 66 (66, 70, 74). Turn. Work a hdc in the third chain from the hook and in each of the following chains. Turn.
Row 1: WS (Wrong side) Ch 3 (counts as 1dc). Work a dc in next 35, (35,37, 39) ch. Place a marker to denote the beginning of the yoke; then hdc in last 28 (28, 30, 32) ch. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc). Hdc in each stitch to the end. Turn.

Back: With smaller needles and CC, cast on 61 (65, 67, 71) sts. Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 2 rows. Change to MC and work in ribbing for 10 (10, 12, 12) more rows, ending with a WS row and increasing 1 st on last row: 62 (66, 68, 72) sts.

Needles: US size 7 -- 24” circular; stitch marker.
Size: approximately 25”in diameter x 18.5” in length

Traveling Pattern: Multiple of 11 sts.
Round 1: *(Sl 1, k1, psso, k6, yo, k3).
Round 2: Knit all sts.
Repeat rounds 1 & 2 for Traveling Pattern.

Seed Stitch Pattern for border:

Yarn: Baby Alpaca Grande - 1—100g hank shown in color 5469
Needles: US Size 15
Size: about 3.5" x 30”.
Gauge: Not overly important - do not knit tight and get the scarf width as stated.

Instructions:
Divide hank of yarn in half.
With double strand of yarn, loosely cast on 14 sts.
Work 2x2 ribbing as follows:
Row 1: K2, *(p2, k2); repeat from * across.
Row 2: P2, *(k2, p2); repeat from * across.

Scarf

Materials: Joie de Vive- 1 ball.
Approx. Finished Size: 5” x 60”
Needles: Size US 9.

With size 9 needles, cast on 7 sts by wrapping needle around the back of the mesh and inserting it into the holes along the top edge, one hole per one stitch. Knit the first row by wrapping mesh around the needle and inserting needle into top edge holes- skipping one hole between each stitch. Repeat for every following row. Bind off in normal fashion. Penn State Scarf & Hat - F416

Size: Hat: 23” x 8”. Scarf: 8 x 50”
Materials: 1 ball Encore Worsted color 848 (navy-A), and 1 ball color 208(white-B) EACH for Hat and Scarf. Note: Hat takes 1 ball each color, scarf takes 1 ball each color.
Gauge: 12 sts = 4” in garter stitch on a US 11 needle, or size needed to achieve gauge.
Needles: 24” circular size US 11 for the scarf, 16” circular size US 10½, and size US 10 or US 10½ double pointed needles for the hat.

Penn State Scarf:

Materials: 4 balls Eros II shown in color 3003
Size: 20 x 60”
Needles: Size US 15 needles.
Gauge: 7 sts = 4” over pattern st using double strand of yarn.

Shawl:
Cut 124 pieces of Eros II into 15” sections. Set aside. Hint: Cut half of fringe from each of 2 balls.
Using a double strand of Eros II loosely cast on 33 sts, leaving 9” tails.
Row 1: P1, *(yo, p2tog); repeat from * to end.

Materials: 1 hank.
Approx. Finished Size: 3” x 48”
Needles: Size US 10.


Knitting Instructions: Spread open the mesh. Turn sideways so that the rainbow effect is at the bottom. Cast on 6 sts across the top edge using a size US 10 needle. Knit through the top edge openings - one opening for the first stitch of every row, then skip a track hole each time for the other stitches of the row. Knit every row.
