Cast on For Hat
With the 12, (14, 14, 16) sts at one end of the needle, cast on 8, (9, 11, 12) sts (back of the hat), knit across 12, (14, 14, 16) sts from first ear flap, cast on 16, (19, 25, 28) sts (for front of hat).

Back
Cast on 70 sts. Work 8 rows of garter stitch
(4 ridges on RS).
Work in st st for 18 rows. Next RS row K2*yo, k2tog* end K2. Repeat the last 18 rows 6 more times or until desired width of garment.
Work 18 more rows in st st. Work 8 rows of garter stitch. Bind off loosely.
Finishing
Lightly block pieces to measurements. Sew shoulders together (10”) and sew lower side seams together ( 3”).
Weave in all ends.

Begin
Holding both strands together, tie a knot about 3” from the tail ends of the yarn. This will join the yarn strands together. You will be CO with both strands- counting the double strand as a single strand of yarn.
CO 140 sts (280 strands of yarn on needle). Join in the round, being careful not to twist and pm.
Work all chart rounds from right to left for 75 rounds (2 full repeats of the chart + 23 rounds). BO on next round by holding 2 strands of yarn together as one, and working a grey and purple stitch together as one.
Weave in all ends.
