Slouchy Hat
Size: 1 Size fits most adults
Materials: 1 ball of Encore Worsted- color 7172
Needles: 16” circular size 5 & 7; plus double points- size 7.
Gauge: 5 sts =1” over st st on size 7 needles.
With smaller needles, loosely cast on 100 sts. Join, making sure not to twist the sts. Place marker.
Work in k1/p1 ribbing for 2”, increasing evenly around row to 120 sts on the last round.
Change to larger needle and work in st st until total length is 8”.
Begin decreases. Change to double points when needed.
Round 1: *(K10, k2tog); repeat from * around. (110 sts).
Round 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14: Knit even.
Round 3: *(K9, k2tog); repeat from * around. (100 sts).
Round 5: *(K8, k2tog); repeat from * around. (90 sts).
Round 7: *(K7, k2tog); repeat from * around. (80 sts).
Round 8: Knit even.
Round 9: *(K6, k2tog); repeat from * around. (70 sts).
Round 11: *(K5, k2tog); repeat from * around. (60 sts).
Round 13: *(K4, k2tog); repeat from * around. (50 sts).
Round 15: *(K3, k2tog); repeat from * around. (40 sts).
Round 16: *(K2, k2tog); repeat from * around. (30 sts).
Round 17: *(K1, k2tog); repeat from * around. (20 sts).
Round 18: *(K2tog); repeat from * around. (10 sts).
Round 19: *(K2tog); repeat from * around. (5 sts).
Cut yarn and thread through remaining sts. Pull up tight and fasten. Weave in all ends.
