
Hat & Scarf Set
Hat: 21” circumference
Scarf: 30” long x 18” wide
Materials:
Drifting Gardens:
2- 50G balls, color 202 for Hat
2-50G balls, color 202 for Scarf
Gauge: 12 sts = 4” using size 10 ½ needles over st st.
14 sts = 4” in 2x2 ribbing on size 10½ knitting needles
Needles: Size US 10 ½- 16” circular knitting needles for hat
Stitch marker.
Size US 10 ½ knitting needle for scarf, 2 stitch holders.
Hat
With 10½ circular knitting needles, cast on 72 sts. Join in the round, being careful not to twist. Place a stitch
marker to mark beginning of round.
Work in 2x2 ribbing for 3”.
Switch to garter stitch (knit one round, purl one round) until piece measures 12” altogether, ending having just purled one round.
Next Round: *k2tog; rep from * 36 sts.
Last Round: *p2tog; rep from * 18 sts.
Cut yarn. Draw through remaining sts.
Weave in all ends.
Scarf
With size 10½ needles, cast on 10 sts.
Knit one row.
Working in garter stitch, Increase 1 st at each end of every other row until there are 18 sts.
Knit even in garter stitch for 2”.
Dividing Row: *K1, sl next stitch onto stitch holder; rep from *.
9 sts on stitch holder, 9 sts on knitting needle.
Work in 1x1 ribbing on the 9 sts on the knitting needles for 2½”. Set those sts onto another st holder.
Slip the 9 sts from the first stitch holder onto knitting needles and work in 1x1 ribbing for 2½”.
Next Row: *k1 stitch from knitting needle, k1 stitch from st holder; rep from *. 18 sts on needles.
Work in garter stitch for 21”.
Work Dividing Row, ribbing sections, and Next Row once more. Knit even in garter stitch for 2”.
Decrease 1 st at each end of every other row until there are 10 sts. Knit one row. Bind off all sts.
Weave in all ends.
