FRONT (make 2 alike): With larger needles, and MC, loosely cast on 32 (36, 40, 46) sts. Mark the first row as a RS row. Working stripe pattern as given above, work in garter st until total length is 9”, ending with a WS row. Next row: Work across 6 (8, 10, 13) sts, bind off next 20 sts. Work across the 20 sts from one of the pocket linings, finish the 6 (8, 10, 13) sts of the row. Continue on the 32 (36, 40, 46) sts until total length is 26 (27, 28)”, ending with a WS row. Bind off loosely.
For Finishing: Continue working even in garter st on all sts, back and forth until width of lower sections is 6” wide, ending with a WS row. Bind off on next row on larger needles, working loosely around back neck.
Sew in sleeves and sew up sleeve seams and side seams, leaving lower 4-5” open for side vents, if desired.
Weave in all ends.
